Clash Volleyball Club’s Professional Coaches combine knowledge, skill, and experience to provide a challenging and positive learning environment for players at all skill levels.  Along with a focus on improving their overall volleyball performance, players will also develop and improve their leadership, followership, and team-based performance.

All of our coaches are trained under the United States Volleyball Association (USVA). Aside from being well-trained coaches, they have also been background-checked and certified.

Coaches Bio's

Michele Blue 

CAP I Certified

Michele has been a part of the Clash family for over twelve years now.  She has coached many teams in the 13s, 16s, 17s and 18s age group, including an 18s team that won the Old Dominion regional title in 2010. From 2011-2013, Michele worked as the Technical Director for the club.  She provided instruction to all levels of volleyball players, teams, and coaches as well as lead middle and high school camps during the summer.  Michele recently completed a distinguished run as the Varsity Head Coach for Osbourn Park High School, where she won three District titles, made two state tournament appearances and was named Washington Post’s All-Area Coach of the Year twice. Michele has also coached for several swim teams in Prince William County and the Osbourn Park boys and girls swim teams.

As a player, Michele was part of Osbourn Park’s first district title team and was named Potomac News Player of the Year for the 1996 season. A graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor of arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, she completed graduate level work at George Mason to receive her teaching license in PK-6. She currently teaches preschool in Manassas. Michele lives in Bristow with her husband Wes and children Zachary (14) and Ashley (10).

 

Matt Piette 
CAP I Certified

Matt has been with Clash since the 2007-2008 season coaching the 13 to 15 year old group. Matt played three years of Varsity volleyball for his high school in Western New York. He continues to play in recreational leagues and is currently the Head Coach at Reagan Middle School. 

Matt will use his knowledge and experince to work with the girls to improve their skills and their knowledge of volleyball.

Matt currently teaches 8th Grade Science at Reagan Middle School. He lives in Bristow with his wife Erin, daughter Paige (4), son Patrick (3) and their 3 four legged friends.

 

Meaghan Emery 
CAP I Certified

Meaghan returns for a fifth year coaching with Clash and has been a part of the Clash family for more than 10 years.  She played for Clash from the fifth grade through her senior year in high school. Meaghan assisted with coaching the Clash 15N in the 2011-2012 season at the East Coast Championship and AAU Championship in Orlando.  Since then, she has coached the 13s, 16s & 17s over the past 3 years.  

 Meaghan played three years of varsity at Osbourn Park High School and graduated in 2012 from Davis and Elkins College (Division II) where she was on scholarship and was their starting libero.  She continues to play in recreational leagues.

Meaghan teaches autistic children at Rockledge Elementary School in Woodbridge and is currently pursuing her masters degree in Special Education which is a passion of hers.  She is also the Varsity coach for Osbourn Park High School where she was voted Coach of the Year for her district in 2016.

 

Andrea Testerman 

Andrea has been a part of the Clash family from 12 to 18 years old.  Her Clash 15s team made it to the National tournament in Minneapolis, MN.  She played four years of volleyball at Osbourn Park High School, three of which were on varsity.  Before graduating from JMU in December 2014, she played on the JMU Women's Club Volleyball team which traveled all around the country.  Andrea is currently coaching the Osbourn Park JV team.

Volleyball has been a big part of Andrea's life and she hopes to share her love for the sport with young players.  She believes that it is important to teach the fundamentals at an early age and hopes to use her many years of playing experience to guide and encourage her teams to play their hardest and have fun doing it!

 

Brittany Testerman 
CAP I Certified

Brittany has been a part of the Clash family since she was in sixth grade, playing on multiple Clash teams.  She has co-coached the 13s and most recently, coached the 15s. Brittany has also coached the 14s during the 2012-2013 season and 12s team during the 2011-2012 season.  

Brittany was a 3 year varsity player at Osbourn Park High School. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in elementary education and playing on a recreational league.  She also coaches the Osbourn Park Freshman team.

She looks forward to teaching her skills to younger players, while also emphasizing the importance of teamwork. 

 

Lindsey Macdonald 

Lindsey first became a part of the Clash family when she played for them from ages 15-17 years old.   She also played for Forest Park High School all four years and currently still plays in recreational leagues.  In 2012-2013, she joined the coaching staff for the 12s/13s team, and last year she was the assistant coach for the 18s team.  

Lindsey attended JMU for her undergraduate program, and received her Master’s in Teaching from George Mason.  She currently plays for her staff volleyball team at West Gate Elementary where she is the art teacher. Lindsey looks forward to sharing her love of volleyball and watching players develop their skills and confidence over the season.

 

 

Grace Teller

Grace is new to the Clash Family this year and is very excited to be a part of our coaching staff and to continue her passion for coaching volleyball.  Grace is a volleyball enthusiast and has played volleyball since she was 12 years old.  She is a graduate of Liberty High School where she played all 4 years.  After high school, Grace played club volleyball for Lord Fairfax Community College and continues to play in adult leagues around the area.  Grace is now in her senior year at George Mason University where she is majoring in Physical Education and studying Coaching as her minor

Grace coached the Freshmen team at Fauquier High School in 2011 before moving to the Gainesville Sport and Health Club where she coached middle school aged girls from 2012-2013.  She is very excited to pursue her coaching passion with Clash VBC and also hopes to coach high school-level sports as well.

 

 

Aura Testerman 

Aura returns to the Clash family after coaching the 14/15 short season team last year.  She has been involved with Clash volleyball either as a parent or a coach since 2002. 

Aura graduated from Potomac High School in 1985 where she was a part of the volleyball team.  While playing at Potomac she made All District and All Region.  She was also Player of the Year in 1984. 

She attended Methodist College from 1985-1989 where she played on the Monarch’s volleyball team all four years.  During her four years playing at Methodist College, she made All Conference and All Tournament teams.  She was the MVP of the Conference Tournament in 1988.  This year her 1986 team was inducted into the Methodist University Hall of Fame for being the only Methodist volleyball team to compete in the NCAA Tournament.   

After graduating, Aura began working at Osbourn Park High School.  She later moved to Woodbridge Middle School and is now working at the Prince William County Schools Records Center.  During her time in PWC, Aura has coached at Osbourn Park High School, Woodbridge Middle School, and Lake Ridge Middle School. 

Volleyball has been a big part of Aura’s life.  Between playing during her school years and watching her daughters, Andrea and Brittany, play she has clocked many hours in the gym!  She looks forward to working with the developmental players in teaching them the fundamental skills of volleyball. 

Ray Emery III 

Coach Ray is returning to Clash for his second season. Last year, he was the assistant coach for the 16s team and previously with the 15s team. He really enjoyed working with the girls and is looking forward to another great season. Ray has played volleyball since he was 10 years old, indoor and on the beach. He has played competitively for about 20 years and has competed in professional tournaments in both indoor and beach volleyball. While stationed in Germany, he represented the US Air Force in the Allied Air Forces, Central Europe (AIRCENT) tournament as well as many other tournaments throughout his Air Force career.

Ray lives in Remington, VA with his wife Katerina and their daughters Kayla and Alyssa.
